Beacon was abused as a child by a relative and has found out how to live a healthy life regardless of the cards that he was dealt. He relates to the students with honesty and encourages them to keep pressing on through hardship.

Fun fact: Hip Hop officially became the most listened to genre in the United States as of 2018. Chances are many of your students are listening to it.

Many people are unaware that Hip Hop began as an alternative to violence in the South Bronx (Hip Hop started in the Bronx in the 1970s). People expressed themselves creatively, and it started a cultural movement. Beacon explains the roots of Hip Hop and encourages students to make the best of the situations they are born into and face everyday.
